Helps to balance skin's microbiome, shielding it from pathogens and making it more resilient to further damage.
Beginners (Level 1) and beyond
The fermented ingredients balance your skin's microbiome and give your skin what it needs when exposed to active ingredients on a daily basis.
Aloe vera, hyualuronic acid and cucumber extract have instant skin soothing and calming properties. This is particularly suitable when using active ingredients such as AHA, BHA or retinol.
Make sure to wash your hands with soap and moisten your face with lukewarm water. Apply 1 to 2 pumps of the Smoothing Cleanser and wash your face gently. Pat dry with a clean towel (that you only use for your face!).
Use 1 pump of the Biome Barrier on your clean face and spread it evenly. If you use the Biome Barrier as your moisturiser in the morning as well, make sure to apply the Day Shield (SPF) afterwards.
Bifida ferment lysate and lactococcus ferment lysate balance the skin's microbiome - the collection of good bacteria that act as a defence system against disease-causing microorganisms - great add on option to your Level 2 routine!
Aloe vera, cucumber extract and hyaluronic acid soothe and provide an instant feeling of moisture. Ceramides and peptides provide an additional safety seal to your skin barrier.
Lactic acid reduces the skin's ph to a level more suitable for your skin's microbiome

The Biome Barrier provides an instantaneous feeling of hydration due to its ingredients such as aloe vera, hyaluronic acid and cucumber extract. It helps to repair and strengthen the skin barrier, however to combat dry skin, we recommend skin cell turnover stimulating ingredients such as AHA, present in the Smoothing Cleanser and Overnight Smoother. The combined use of the Smoothing Cleanser and the Biome Barrier supports a healthy skin barrier and an overall less dry, more vital skin.
While the Biome Barrier plays a crucial role in supporting the skin's microbiome and repairing damage to the skin barrier, it does not provide any protection against UV rays like sunscreen does. While it helps strengthening your barrier, it should not be relied upon for sun protection due to the absence of UV filters. Therefore, the Biome Barrier is not intended to replace the Day Shield but rather to complement it, providing additional support for skin protection when used together.
Yes, you can. However, some of our clients may find that using the Day Shield and Biome Barrier in the morning can lead to pilling, since too many layers of skincare are present on the skin’s surface. Therefore, we usually recommend using the Biome Barrier at night before bedtime, since the Day Shield provides all a skin needs in the morning. However, if your skin tends to become excessively dry, particularly during winter, you can consider using the Biome Barrier in the morning alongside the Day Shield.
Absolutely, as the Biome Barrier does not contain any active ingredients, it is safe to continue using it in your skincare routine during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
